Business Affairs Ministry

The Business Affairs Ministry (BAM) is called to take an in-depth look at the mission of the church and then to examine that mission and develop financial strategies that will enable the church to fulfill the mission of God. BAM is also called to follow the work and ministry of Jesus Christ in fulfilling the mission that Jesus gave to the church, which is to preach the Gospel of the kingdom of God and make disciples throughout the world, teaching them exactly what Jesus taught (Mark 16:15, Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19-20). BAM is also called to educate the congregation in the biblical principles of whole-life stewardship and not merely the raising of money to meet budgets. Finally, BAM supervises and maintains all property belonging to the church so that the mission, vision and ministries of the church are supported and strengthened.

There are three committees under the Business Affairs Ministry. They are:

Facilities

The Facilities Committees oversees the ongoing upkeep, maintenance, repairs and activities associated with the operation, safety and security of the church building, grounds, furnishings and equipment owned by the church. The committee is also responsible for scheduling the use of the building for meetings and special events approved by the session. The committee supervised the replacement of the front entry doors to the church earlier in the year and the energy-efficient retrofit of the lighting throughout the church and educational wing. The committee is now engaged in developing and implementing a plan to reopen the church, when the session determines it safe to do so.

Finance Committee

The Finance committee is informed by Malachi 3:10 “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test says the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need”. The Session assigns and oversees the committee’s fiduciary responsibilities of the church’s operation.

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee oversees the performance, calculates the salary and benefits and ensures the evaluation of the church staff. The committee also helps to ensure that policies, procedures and processes are in place to support church staff and volunteers. In addition, the committee oversees and reviews results of an annual performance evaluation process. Currently, the committee is in the process of reviewing staff job descriptions.
