Our grounding scripture is Romans 12:1,2, which states:

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Wellness sponsors annual activities and events to encourage members and friends to move more including New Deliverance Wellness Walkers and our annual Dress to Move Sunday. Other activities include promoting Go Red for Women’s Heart Health each February and Daniel Fast during Lent. We also provide information on a different health topic each month.

Green Team

The Green Team’s purpose is to positively impact the church’s environmental policies and practices. We work in collaboration with the Facilities Ministry on church beautification and partner with Faith in Place to help educate God’s people on ways to care for His earth. We have a small container garden and have planted native plants to help restore the balance of nature in our community. Through nature outings and camping, we encourage people to get out in nature. For those who cannot get out, we did a houseplant give away, providing those who are socially isolated with air-purifying plants.

Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 AMP

Green Team – Tip of the Month

The New Deliverance Green Team is all about helping God’s people care for His earth. We will offer you a monthly tip to help you make His earth a better place.

Green Team Tip of the Month for May

Appliances – Make energy efficiency a primary consideration when choosing a new furnace, air conditioning unit, dishwasher, or refrigerator. Products bearing the ENERGY STAR label are recognized for having superior efficiency.

Green Team Tip of the Month for April

Avoid traffic.  Being stuck in traffic wastes gas and unnecessarily creates CO2. Use traffic websites and apps and go a different way or wait.

Combine errands to make fewer trips. Remove excess weight from your car. Use cruise control.

Green Team Tip of the Month for March

Turn off lights, electronics, small appliances and chargers when not actively in use. Unplug those with an “always on” clock or “standby” red light. A TV set that’s on for three hours and in standby for 21 hours uses about 40 percent of its energy in standby mode.

Green Team Tip of the Month for February

Recycle! It makes a difference. An aluminum can made from a recycled can, rather than from new aluminum, saves the same amount of energy needed to run a television for three hours. Recycled paper uses only 60 percent of the energy used when making paper from new resources. Steel recycling in the United States each year saves enough energy to supply Los Angeles with nearly a decade’s worth of electricity.

Green Team Tip of the Month for January

Adjust yourself to your environment. Program your thermostat to not stay as warm or cool when you are not around. By moving your thermostat up two degrees in summer and down two degrees in winter, it is possible to save approximately two thousand pounds of carbon dioxide from the previous year. This is one of the top things that you can do to reduce global warming.
